How long does each session last?
Each session lasts 50 minutes. In terms of how many sessions you have with a therapist, this can vary a lot, and we would talk about it during the first meeting which we call an assessment. During this session, we would ask you questions and get you to talk about yourself so you and the therapist get a sense of why you have come to seek psychotherapy. The session is also an opportunity for you to see whether you feel this might be the right place for you.
There is no right or wrong length for therapy. The type of therapy we practice involves thinking about often deep-seated ideas and sometimes traumas that are not easily talked about. Building up a sense of trust of the therapist takes time which is another reason for working for what may seem like quite a long time together.
